Screen adaptation of bestseller – PANTALEON Films begins filming of feature film So Near the Horizon

Screen adaptation of bestseller – PANTALEON Films GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the publicly traded company PANTAFLIX AG, announces the start of filming of the best-selling novel So Near the Horizon (Dem Horizont so Nah), which will take place in North Rhine-Westphalia, Munich and Portugal until mid-November.

Alongside Luna Wedler (Das schönste Mädchen der Welt - The Most Beautiful Girl In The World) and Jannik Schümann (Die Mitte der Welt - Center of My World), Luise Befort (Club der Roten Bänder - The Red Band Society), Victoria Mayer (Hin und Weg - Tour de Force), Stephan Kampwirth (Dark), Denis Moschitto (Aus dem Nichts - In the Fade) and Frederick Lau (Victoria) also have roles in the romance film. The film will be directed by Tim Trachte and the script was written by Ariane Schröder.

So Near the Horizon is a collaboration between PANTALEON Films GmbH (Kristina Löbbert and Dan Maag), a wholly owned subsidiary of PANTAFLIX AG, in coproduction with STUDIOCANAL Film (Kalle Friz and Isabel Hund) and SevenPictures Film (Stefan Gärtner and Verena Schilling), funded by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and FilmFernsehFonds Bayern. It is planned for theatrical release in 2019.

The novel So Near the Horizon was published in March 2016 by FeuerWerke Verlag and in August 2016 by Rowohlt Taschenbuch Verlag. The author Jessica Koch describes true events from her past and brings up several taboo subjects. Within just a few weeks, So Near the Horizon reached # 1 on Amazon's Bestseller List and is considered one of the most successful novels of recent years, with over 800,000 copies sold. Part 2 (So Near the Abyss) and Part 3 (So Near the Ocean) have also been released.
